I suspect part of the reason is he's no longer able to write the books, only to narrate and someone else writes it all down.
I'm trying to take account of this, I really am, and to be grateful that he's still writing anything at all. But it feels like there are some bigger problems with approach and the world-building that haven't quite worked that go beyond the practical aspects - but then, I don't know whether self-editing would have made a difference.
