The City & The City is the most amazing novel I've read in years; I just finished it myself only a few days ago, and I literally can't stop thinking about it. It has its flaws (I thought the last third or so moved much too fast, and I hate MiƩville's habit of mashing one character's dialogue together with another character's stage directions), but the world was so beautiful and subtly-drawn and powerfully allegorical that I kind of stopped noticing the writing at all after a few chapters. I was sort of enhh about Perdido Street Station but this book was fucking spectacular and I don't think I'm overstating the case when I say it reignited my passion for fantasy. Ironic, I guess, since it's not really fantasy!
