I *love* the boring bits of A Suitable Boy. I love the changes in language, particularly where it's the same subject, like the zamindari reform, so you see it discussed in parliamentary language and then in legal language and then the personal reaction from the Nawab and they all have their very specific concerns and codes and worldviews.
