Contemplations and notations

I saw this when it came out here, and was impressed, though I was traumatised at the time by the Cultural Revolution stuff. I saw it in one of those (literally) underground cinemas with small screens around Piccadilly Circus, in the afternoon, and remember walking stiffly back up the stairs into the daylight wondering what had just hit me (at length - I seem to remember this as being extraordinarily long...?) I'd see it again in a second, but perhaps I have repressed precisely how upsetting it is.
