I am nicking this from [livejournal.com profile] lizw, who is (as always) more on top of things than I am.

Craig Murray, the former UK ambassador to Uzbekistan, wants to give evidence to the Parliamentary Joint Committee on Human Rights about the British government's complicity in extraordinary rendition and torture. The Committee doesn't seem quite able to make up its mind if it wants to listen to him or not. However, given that his observations as Ambassador essentially conclude that for the last six years Britain has had a secret policy of cooperation with torture abroad, legally cleared by government advisors and the Secretary of State, to not have him give evidence seems to be taking the easy way out, to say the least.

Mr. Murray's blog is asking people to send a quick e-mail to the Committee to encourage them to hear his evidence. I've just sent a very short e-mail. Take two minutes. What he has to say deserves to be heard.
